惡魔島的自由
讀經 : 腓利門書 1 : 4~16 Philemon 1 : 4~16
1:4 我禱告的時候提到你，常為你感謝我的神；
I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,
1:5 因聽說你的愛心並你向主耶穌和眾聖徒的信心（或作：因聽說你向主耶穌和眾聖徒有愛心有信心）。
Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
1:6 願你與人所同有的信心顯出功效，使人知道你們各樣善事都是為基督做的。
That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
1:7 兄弟啊，我為你的愛心，大有快樂，大得安慰，因眾聖徒的心從你得了暢快。
For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
1:8 我雖然靠著基督能放膽吩咐你合宜的事；
Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,
1:9 然而像我這有年紀的保羅，現在又是為基督耶穌被囚的，寧可憑著愛心求你，Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee , being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
1:10 就是為我在捆鎖中所生的兒子阿尼西母（就是有益處的意思）求你。
I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
1:11 他從前與你沒有益處，但如今與你我都有益處。
Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:
1:12 我現在打發他親自回你那裡去，他是我心上的人。Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:
1:13 我本來有意將他留下，在我為福音所受的捆鎖中替你伺候我。Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:
1:14 但不知道你的意思，我就不願意這樣行，叫你的善行不是出於勉強，乃是出於甘心。
But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
1:15 他暫時離開你，或者是叫你永遠得著他，
For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;
1:16 不再是奴僕，乃是高過奴僕，是親愛的兄弟。在我實在是如此，何況在你呢！這也不拘是按肉體說，是按主說，
Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?

10:22 並且你們要為我的名被眾人恨惡。惟有忍耐到底的必然得救。And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
10:23 有人在這城裡逼迫你們，就逃到那城裡去。我實在告訴你們，以色列的城邑，你們還沒有走遍，人子就到了。
But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. have...: or, end, or, finish
10:24 學生不能高過先生；僕人不能高過主人。
The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
10:25 學生和先生一樣，僕人和主人一樣，也就罷了。人既罵家主是別西卜（別西卜：是鬼王的名），何況他的家人呢？」It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? Beelzebub: Gr. Beelzebul
10:26 「所以，不要怕他們；因為掩蓋的事沒有不露出來的，隱藏的事沒有不被人知道的。
Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
10:27 我在暗中告訴你們的，你們要在明處說出來；你們耳中所聽的，要在房上宣揚出來。
What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
10:28 那殺身體，不能殺靈魂的，不要怕他們；惟有能把身體和靈魂都滅在地獄裡的，正要怕他。
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
10:29 兩個麻雀不是賣一分銀子嗎？若是你們的父不許，一個也不能掉在地上；
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. farthing: it is in value halfpenny farthing in the original, as being the tenth part of the Roman penny
10:30 就是你們的頭髮也都被數過了。
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
10:31 所以，不要懼怕，你們比許多麻雀還貴重！」
Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
10:32 「凡在人面前認我的，我在我天上的父面前也必認他；Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
10:33 凡在人面前不認我的，我在我天上的父面前也必不認他。」But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
10:34 「你們不要想我來是叫地上太平；我來並不是叫地上太平，乃是叫地上動刀兵。
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
10:35 因為我來是叫人與父親生疏，女兒與母親生疏，媳婦與婆婆生疏。
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
10:36 人的仇敵就是自己家裡的人。
And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
10:37 「愛父母過於愛我的，不配作我的門徒；愛兒女過於愛我的，不配作我的門徒；
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
10:38 不背著他的十字架跟從我的，也不配作我的門徒。
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
10:39 得著生命的，將要失喪生命；為我失喪生命的，將要得著生命。」
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
10:40 「人接待你們就是接待我；接待我就是接待那差我來的。He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
10:41 人因為先知的名接待先知，必得先知所得的賞賜；人因為義人的名接待義人，必得義人所得的賞賜。
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
10:42 無論何人，因為門徒的名，只把一杯涼水給這小子裡的一個喝，我實在告訴你們，這人不能不得賞賜。」
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
參觀美國舊金山灣的惡魔島聯邦監獄，讓我留下了難以磨滅的印象。當我們的旅遊船駛進了碼頭，我便明白為何這個已關閉的、戒備最為森嚴的聯邦監獄曾被稱為「岩石」。
過後在這所傳奇的大房子裡，我看見陽光穿過重重欄杆的窗子。然後看見一排排排籠狀牢房，裡面曾經關過著名的囚犯，如芝加哥「教父」艾爾‧卡彭（Al Capone），以及對鳥類極有研究的「鳥人」史特勞德（Robert Stroud）。
而另一種更令人印象深刻的景象是：走進一間空牢房，我看到「耶穌」這個名字被寫在一面牆上。在另一面牆，一本聖經被放在書架上，它們一起靜靜地道出最偉大的自由。
使徒保羅在等待被處決的時候，知道這種自由。身為「基督的囚犯」，保羅用他的監禁幫助其他犯人發現永遠被饒恕的意義，成為上帝家中愛的成員（腓立門書1章10節）。
被釘上欄杆的門窗代表一種約束，其他的限制包括身體的癱瘓，無法逃避的貧困和長期失業等，也許你在忍受的是其他的束縛。我們都不希望有這些限制或束縛，然而，我們寧可擁有基督而受「監禁」，勝於享有「自由」卻沒有基督。MRDII
我的心靈被監禁，
知道基督是主；
自祂讓我得自由，
