42:1 約伯回答耶和華說：
Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
42:2 我知道，你萬事都能做；你的旨意不能攔阻。
I know that thou canst do every thing , and that no thought can be withholden from thee. no thought can be...: or, no thought of thine can be hindered
42:3 誰用無知的言語使你的旨意隱藏呢？我所說的是我不明白的；這些事太奇妙，是我不知道的。
Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
42:4 求你聽我，我要說話；我問你，求你指示我。
Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
42:5 我從前風聞有你，現在親眼看見你。
I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.
42:6 因此我厭惡自己（或譯：我的言語），在塵土和爐灰中懊悔。
Wherefore I abhor myself , and repent in dust and ashes.
